Google Purchases Mobile Developer Reqwireless01/09/06 Late last week Google announced that they had purchased a mobile java development company, Reqwireless Inc. of Waterloo, Ontario. Reqwireless builds business and productivity applications for the mobile Java (J2ME) platform. While Reqwireless has released six applications in the past, information on WebViewer, ReqwirelessWeb, WebViewerLite, EmailViewer, ReqwirelessEmail and HotViewer still remain unavailable from the former Reqwireless web site over at www.reqwireless.com.
While Google's acquisition of another company is nothing out of the ordinary, it does mark the first strong attempt to pick up a player in the mobile computing industry. No official press release or announcement has been made by Google as of yet on the situation.
