AOL Acquires Video Search Firm Truveo01/10/06 The America Online unit of Time Warner today announced its acquisition of Truveo, Inc. This two year old video search company from Burlingame, California is a pioneer in "visual crawling" technology which uses spiders to identify and catalog visual characteristics of online video clips. Truveo uses this technology to fuel content for its own search engine, www.truveo.com, while also licensing the index to independent websites generating over 10,000 video searches per day. By acquiring Truveo's technology, AOL has further secured its position as the leader in online video content and distribution.
