Yahoo No Longer Interested in Buying AOL11/10/05 The Wall Street Journal and the Reuters News Agency have both published reports that Yahoo is no longer interested in purchasing a stake of America Online (AOL).
According to a spokeswoman for Yahoo, "After we learned what their proposed deal terms were we passed and we've never looked back..." The spokeswoman said that while Yahoo had not made an offer to buy AOL, Yahoo Chief Executive Terry Semel and Time Warner chairman Richard Parsons had met back in October to discuss the possibilities.
Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported that AOL/Time Warner told Yahoo that it was not interested in the terms offered by Yahoo for the sale. AOL and Time Warner are still in talks with Google and Microsoft. The thought inside of The Wall Street Journal is that Time Warner will likely choose one the two companies and start exclusive negotiations as early as next week.
