Yahoo CEO Discusses Video Search09/19/05 Reuters has reported that Chief Executive Terry Semel outlined his television strategy last Friday, saying that Yahoo wants to commission original content without imitating existing TV networks.
"Video search is a way to monetise some of the stuff that's lounging around in warehouses and hasn't made a dime for years," Semel said.
"I don't think that Yahoo or any other Internet company should try to become a television network," Semel added. "We will be nowhere if we have to create our own content."
Semel later warned TV executives that television could lose larger portions of advertising budgets in coming years because of fragmenting audiences and the introduction of ad-skipping technologies.
